Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between coaching, psychotherapy, and counselling?
  • Coaching focuses on personal and professional development, helping you set and achieve specific goals. It's future-oriented and empowers you to create actionable plans for change.

  • Counselling is more short-term and focuses on addressing specific issues or challenges in your life, offering emotional support and guidance as you work through them.

  • Psychotherapy is typically longer-term and aims to explore deeper emotional and psychological patterns, often dealing with past traumas, relationships, and mental health conditions.

How do I know if I need coaching or therapy?

If you're feeling stuck in specific areas of life, such as career, relationships, or personal growth, and are looking for guidance and accountability, coaching might be the right choice. If you are struggling with emotional distress, trauma, anxiety, depression, or other mental health concerns, therapy can help you explore and heal underlying issues.

Is counselling and psychotherapy only for people who have serious mental problems?

No! A common misconception is that counselling and psychotherapy is only for people who have severe mental issues or are completely dysfunctional. The reality is that many of us have unresolved traumas and unhelpful beliefs that we may not even realise are there. These sessions can help us become more self-aware and help us lead more fulfilling lives.

Can I have both coaching and therapy at the same time?

Yes, as both a trained coach and counsellor, I am able to integrate both approaches, depending on your needs. As needs can change depending on what we uncover during sessions, my integrated approach allows me to provide you with whatever you need session to session and moment to moment.

How long does the process take?

The length of time depends on your individual needs. Coaching is often short-term, ranging from a few weeks to several months, depending on your goals. Counselling or psychotherapy may take longer, as it depends on the complexity of the issues being addressed and the pace at which you feel comfortable progressing.

Are sessions confidential?

Yes, all sessions are completely confidential. I adhere to strict ethical guidelines to ensure your privacy and confidentiality. The only exceptions are if there's a legal obligation, such as if there's risk of harm to yourself or others.

How long are sessions and how much do they cost?

Sessions are typically held once a week, though this can vary based on your needs. Each session lasts around 50 minutes and are $200 for in person sessions and $150 for online sessions.
